Description
- One of Georgia's oldest and most popular state parks, Vogel is located at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Driving from the south, visitors pass through Neel Gap, a beautiful mountain pass near Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Vogel is particularly popular during the fall when the Blue Ridge Mountains transform into a rolling blanket of red, yellow and gold leaves. Cottages, campsites and primitive backpacking sites provide a range of overnight accommodations. This park is in the highlands region of Georgia.
Recreation - Amenities at this park include 110 developed campsites, 36 cottages, mini-golf, a general store, and a CCC museum. The 20 acre lake has a swimming beach and pedal boats for rent. The 17 miles of trail within the park and the nearby Appalachian trail offers backpacking opportunities in the area. Climate - Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. Be prepared for occasional cold weather during the winter. Location -
